Mr. Hassan Saadat opens his first store in the Sharq area of Kuwait. Without access to a commercial lens -grinder, he builds his own machine, and uses sand from the shores of Kuwait to grind lenses. Such was the demand for his services that the store was open 18 hours a day, and people would regularly be gathered outside the store waiting for it to open. Mr. Hassan Saadat became the first official approved optizian in Kuwait, licensed by the newly created Department of Health.
Having rapidly rebuilt the business after 1991, and with the arrival of his son, Dr. Kian, within the business, Mr. Hassan Saadat felt encouraged to expand the business beyond its traditional borders. Not only did he look to expand geographically, but also in to new areas of business. Whilst establishing trading and distribution companies in the United Arab Emirates, he also oversaw the continuation of a move in to the field of hearing aids – a natural progression within the healthcare sector and one that would further cement Hassan’s commitment to the health of Kuwait, as well as the creation of a jewellery business – one that enhanced Hassan’s commitment to style and fine quality.
